Sdn Bhd / Eastern Energy Services Sdn Bhd Date of Applicator: September 2000 The Challenge: The Floating Production Storage Offloading Unit (FPSO) Armada Perkasa is used as a storage tanker for crude oil on offshore operations. The main deck of this vessel is always exposed to salt laden atmosphere, different petroleum chemicals and mechanical abrasions. The existing high build epoxy based coating is not a good surface tolerant coating that can perform well even with minimal surface preparation. Requirement: The main deck was prepared using a high pressure washer since abrasive blasting is not allowed due to sparks it will create upon impact on the steel deck. Corro-Dur 561 was applied on weldments and pitted portions and entire area of the deck was applied with Corro-Dur 258 from 400 to 600 microns dry film thickness. The Corro-Dur products were chosen mainly due to its ease of application, long term protection, good chemical resistance, environment/user friendly and able to withstand harsh marine environment.
