Main Deck of FPSO of the coast of Terengganu, Malaysia Project: Main Deck and Fittings Owner: Bumi Care Offshore Production Sdn Bhd Location: FPSO, Offshore Terengganu, Malaysia. Applicator : Seahorse Services Sdn Bhd Date of Application : June 2002 The Challenge: The main deck and fittings such as butterworth hole coamings, goosenecks and pipe flanges exhibits heavy corrosion. The client wants to have these areas prepared by hand tools or high pressure washing because they can’t allow the contractor to use power tools or gritblasting since the area is above the crude oil tanks. They need a surface tolerant coating and can be applied on operating temperatures as high as 90°C. A composite sleeve is also needed on highly pitted areas of the deck and coamings. Solution: Areas were prepared using hand tools such as chipping hammers and wire brushes and holes on decks and coamings were applied with our polymat saturated with Corro-Fix 911. Followed by Corro-Dur 561 and finish coat of Corro-Dur 258. Coamings and goosenecks were reinforced with Corro-Wrap in conjunction with Corro-Fix 911 and Corro-Dur 561 / 258. Result: The client is satisfied with the job since these products were also applied previously on their water ballast tanks without removing the water on the tanks and divers applied it underwater.
