Applicator: Eastern Energy Services Sdn Bhd Date of Application: July 2001 The Challenge: These flanges are exposed to petrochemical and other corrosive elements. They are usually maintained on a yearly basis to prevent corrosion from spreading and not paying a high price for the replacement of such structures. At present the existing solvent type epoxy coatings needs some touch-up job and the owner wants a coating compatible with it. A surface tolerant coating is needed since the preparation will be power tool/wire brushing only and also solvent free for environment compliance. Requirement: Corro-Dur 257 was applied on power tool cleaned and wire brushed areas and even on top of the sound existing epoxy coating. The inclusion of Kevlar fibers to its formulation makes it more resistant to a variety of chemicals, impact and abrasion. The solvent free formulation of this product makes it odor free and not an explosion hazard. It is a standout among other coatings tested for this job.
