The coating needed for this application should be acid resistant, 100 % Volume Solids, solvent-free 0% Volatile Organic Compounds (VOC), environment friendly and able to provide long-term protection. Requirement: It was recommended that the entire area of the tank should be abrasive blasted to remove rust, mill scale and other contaminants. Corro-Dur 258 is used as a primer at 250 microns dry film thickness (DFT) to protect the substrate from corrosion and at the same time it has sufficient resistance to short term period of storage. Corro-Dur 255 at 300 microns DFT is a novalac epoxy specifically formulated to withstand aggressive acids and would be able to withstand fluctuating temperatures especially during mixing of the acids and a better moisture vapor transmission resistance makes it an ideal choice as an acid proof lining.
