Crude Oil Riser of leading international oil company in Peninsula Malaysia. Project : Crude Oil Risers Location : Seligi - Alpha Platform, Offshore Terengganu, Malaysia. Applicator : Allied Marine & Eng’g Services Date of Application : August 2002 The Challenge: The 10” V895 Main Gas Line SEA-SED Riser on the splash zone area from Mean Sea Level up to +18 ft have showed signs of corrosion degradation and it needs to be repaired as soon as possible to prevent further deterioration. The client intends to grit blast the area and needs a coating that be applied on-line at an operating temperature of 70°C. Solution: Corro-Dur 561 and Corro-Dur 258 were chosen as it is solvent-free, 100% Solids, surface tolerant coatings, on-line application up to 90°C operating temperature and can be applied on dry, damp, wet or even underwater. Result: The Diving Crew applied the coatings as a temporary measure which will provide corrosion protection while test evaluations are being conducted on the risers. They intend to replace existing riser claddings with our Corro-Wrap composite sleeve since we have proved that it is easier to apply than the conventional composite sleeves they are using with the same physical and mechanical properties at a much competitive price.
