Advantages on Steel
|
2.
Surface Preparation
|
- No
need to sandblast to prepare the surface.
- Use
when budgets or environmental reasons don’t
permit the use of sandblasting.
- Takes
1/3 the power tool prep time compared to conventional
metal primer SSPC surface prep standards.
- Do
all the prep at one time.
- Improve
job site and worker safety as it’s Non Flammable, Non
Toxic, Biodegradable
- Easy
to use, easy to clean up, soap and water does it all.
- No
thinning necessary. Spray, brush or roll.
- Works
with nearly all conventional industrial grade top coats
|
- Clean
surface to remove dirt, oil and salt before beginning surface
preparation.
- Use
solvent wiping with clean rags or commercial cleaner, brush
and rinse.
- Optional-
Spray area with Chlor*Rid dilute 100-1 to remove salt.
- Let
surface flash rust and dry overnight
- Do
not clean with acetone or dish detergent.

Applying the Corroseal
|
- Corroseal
calls for surface prep to SSPC SP2.
- Most
Industrial Grade Primers call for surface prep to SSPCSP3.
- SSPC
studies indicate that SP2
is 3 times as fast as SP3.
- Cover
3 times the area in the same prep man-hours or do the prep
in 1/3 the time over conventional primer prep.
|
- Use
Corroseal to convert rust and prime the entire surface for
top coating.
- Apply
with a brush, roller or spray unit.
- Check
Corroseal with wet film gauge as it is applied.
- Do
all the areas and let it stand till the next day.
- Conversion
takes 24 hours. Don’t rush top coating

Using Wet-Film Gauge
|
6.
Apply Topcoats
|
- Painter
checks wet paint film thickness.
- Correct
wet paint film controls paint coverage.
- Correct
wet paint film prevents technical problems in drying.
- Correct
wet paint film thickness helps insure good rust conversion
|
- Apply
top coat to weatherproof the primer.
- Corroseal
will last as long as the top coat remains waterproof.
- Use
the wet film gauge to get the correct wet film thickness
and good rust conversion. Eliminate osmotic failure.
- Doing
the entire area cuts down wasted paint or left overs.
