DESCRIPTION

CORRO-DUR 182
has been developed as the critical binder and adhesive for the CORRO-DUR flooring system. This integrated system employ a combination of solvent - free epoxy polymer resins and abrasive to tailor make floor coverings for extremely demanding applications.

USES

1) Custom design : Instead of the conventional 'one size fits all' approach the CORRO-DUR system employs the resinous binder system with a variety of hard mineral abrasive to achieve desired aesthetic and technical attributes such as abrasion resistance and skid resistance.

2) Solvent-free : The formulation is solvent - free to avoid the objectionable odor and explosion hazards of epoxy solvents. CORRO-DUR 182 may be applied in the immediate proximity of other workers without adverse reaction. Absence of solvents also assure compliance with all present and proposed air pollution regulations.

3) Technical performance : The CORRO-DUR system is designed for application direct to concrete, asphalt and vinyl tile surfaces including Vinyl Asbestos Tile (VAT). No 'tie-coats' or other adhesion promoting primers are required. Applications over surfaces as diverse as heavily used VAT and concrete loading docks have confirmed the durability of the CORRO-DUR 182 system. The coated surface will be ready for regular usage in 24 hours and when fully cured in about 5 days the CORRO-DUR 182 system is extremely resistant to aggressive chemicals such as 70% sulfuric acid, 50% caustic soda, MEK, xylene, gasoline, lube and hydraulic oils and many other industrial commodities.

4) Temperature insulating : When used with an initial application of CORRO-DOCK 183, this flooring system will greatly reduce or eliminate 'sweating floor' conditions on floors and loading docks.

SURFACE PREPARATION

NEW CONCRETE

Surfaces should be left to cure for a minimum of 20 days before coating. Weak surface laitance must be removed by either acid etching or abrasive sweeping before coating.

EXISTING COATED CONCRETE

Surface with worn but generally sound coatings should be prepared by vigorous scrubbing of the existing coatings with solvents or detergents to remove surface contamination. Make necessary repairs to the concrete surfaces with CORRO-DUR 182 and aggregate mixtures before applying the CORRO-DUR 182 protective coating. CORRO-DUR 182 will not soften existing coatings since it contains no solvents however the ultimate strength of the coating system will be determined by the strength of the existing coating residues. If the integrity of the existing coating is doubtful it should be removed to ensure good results from the CORRO-DUR 182

EXISTING NON-COATED CONCRETE Surfaces are best prepared by air/abrasive blasting such as 'Blast- Trac". Small areas may be cleaned using power grinders however this method is not practical for large jobs or for tight clearances.

APPLICATION

CORRO-DUR 182 is supplied in two gallon (7.6 liters) units. 1.33 gallons (5 liters) of epoxy base are filled into a two gallon plastic pail and 0.67 gallons (2.51) of curing agent are filled into a one gallon steel can to yield a 2/1 mixing ratio. Stir the curing agent into the base preferably using a mechanical mixer. Once mixing is complete, start application immediately - CORRO-DUR 182 does not require a "sweat-in" or induction time. Small amounts of epoxy solvent may be added if the mixture begins to thicken noticeably towards the end of its working life. Apply CORRO-DUR 182 using rollers or with a heated, plural component airless sprayer. It is helpful to mark off 100 sq. ft. areas prior to application to provide guidance on spreading the coating.

The cured coating will result in a smooth surface. To obtain a degree of non-skid uniform texture, broadcast the desired grain of aggregate on the freshly applied coating to excess (it is best to have one man broadcast the aggregate as another man is spreading out the next section). There is a variety of aggregates - a fine aggregate will give a slight non-skid profile and a coarse iron oxide will give a pronounced profile. Allow the coating and aggregate to cure for 4-6 hours, sweep off the excess aggregate and apply a second coating of CORRO-DUR 182 to set the non-skid

TEMPERATURE

Temperature will exert a considerable influence on the rate of chemically cured coating such as CORRO-DUR 182. In broad terms expect each 10°C, (18°F), rise or fall temperature to half or double dry times and pot lives.
