INTUMESCENCE Corro-Dur FX 310 Coating is an intumescent coating. When exposed to fire it swells to several times its original thickness. In harsh weather or chemical environments, the tough, durable epoxy coating provides a dense shield to the elements. However, when exposed to a fire, the coating softens, gases are released, and become trapped in the polymer matrix. The material swells or intumesces to several times its original thickness. The resultant foamed char provides an insulating barrier against the heat of the fire.
