CORRO-DUR FX 310 TECHNICAL DATA

EXTERIOR OR INTERIOR DURABLE EPOXY INTUMESCENT COATING

Solvent-Free

Surface Tolerant
Resistant to residual moisture on substrate during application
Excellent resistance to atmospheric variables
High Abrasion Resistance
Easy Mixing Ratio
Excellent Chemical and Physical Resistance
Excellent maintenance system

DESCRIPTION

CORRO-DUR FX 310 is based on pure epoxy resins and does not contain any volatile solvent. The formulation is " Non-Regulated " for Non - Hazmat shipping by surface or air without complications.

The epoxy resin backbone of CORRO-DUR FX 310 ensures a tough, wear and weatherproof coating. The special binder system is extremely surface tolerant for ease of use under normal field conditions. The coating is available in a variety of colors and may be left as is or top coated with a thin coat of latex or similar paint if desired.

USES

EXTERIORS OF BUILDINGS:
Provides an additional measure of safety in a plant fire.

EQUIPMENT ENCLOSURES:
CORRO-DUR FX 310 turns from a protective coating to an insulating blanket when activated by the heat of a fire.

EQUIPMENT SUPPORTS :
Legs of tanks and other equipment should be protected against buckling under the intense heat of a plant fire.

SURFACE PREPARATION

This may be accomplished in several ways:

New and aged concrete: leave to cure properly for a minimum of 20 days before coating. Weak surface laitance must be removed by either acid etching or abrasive blasting. The concrete surface after preparation should have the granular appearance of medium sandpaper.

Steel surface coated with inorganic zinc-rich primer can be top coated with
CORRO-DUR FX 310
.

Note: single pack or thermoplastic undercoats may be expected to soften or liquefy with strong heat and may cause the CORRO-DUR FX 310 to fall off in a fire.

APPLICATION

Mix the base and cure in the pre-measured quantities supplied using a ½ high torque mixer. Sweat-in or induction time is not required before use.

The mixed components have a high build gel structure and may easily be applied at thicknesses in excess of 80 mils (2,000 microns) without sagging on vertical surfaces. Application by brush or roller is possible and will leave some brush or roller marks.

Spraying using conventional pressure-pot equipment using large tips and nozzles will give the best results on large surfaces. Because of large particles in the formulation airless spraying is not recommended.

Allow to cure for at least 24 hours at 77°F (25°C) before service, after this time the film will continue to harden and strengthen for a further week.
